Cinder

Humans and androids crowd the raucous streets of New Beijing. A deadly plague ravages the population. From space, a ruthless lunar people watch, waiting to make their move. No one knows that Earth’s fate hinges on one girl. . . .

Cinder, a gifted mechanic, is a cyborg. She’s a second-class citizen with a mysterious past, reviled by her stepmother and blamed for her stepsister’s illness. But when her life becomes intertwined with the handsome Prince Kai’s, she suddenly finds herself at the center of an intergalactic struggle, and a forbidden attraction. Caught between duty and freedom, loyalty and betrayal, she must uncover secrets about her past in order to protect her world’s future.

Just a few pages in, I was convinced. Cinder is a great character and her relation with the android Iko is very interesting to read about. I actually didn't think I liked sci-fi but ha, I was wrong.

This is a re-telling of Cinderella and it shows in a few different ways. For example in Cinder's family where she has two mean stepsisters and an even meaner stepmom. She also falls in love with a prince, Kai. Kai is a really interesting character and I liked him. He's likeable and friendly to his people. I hope to read more about him in the next book, Scarlet.

I really recommend this book and I'm very curious about Scarlet!
